Default Sunspear skills

I bought both Vampirism and Necrosis and put them on my heroes last night. Tonight they are gone. Is is because they are Sunspear skills? Or is there another reason?

heroes can not use sunspear skills (nor can they use kurzick/luxon ones or the 'special' eye skills--like pain inverter, ursan blessing, etc).

Why were they on the hero trainer then?

I do see heroes can't use pve skills, but that doesn't make sense. It also doesn't make sense that the skills are offered on a hero triainer if they can't be used.

the hero trainer will teach YOU sunspear skills and for your heroes they can learn other skills that you may not have unlocked yet. (you will not be able to use the skills you unlocked for you heroes, and your heroes cant use the sunspear skills--thats the trade off).

there are 2 types of hero skill trainers - nf ones and eotn ones.
Eotn trainers only offer a selection of skills that can be used by your heros or you but nightfall has an extra option of giving sunspear rank skills. This can be a bit confusing to new players - i never knew why anet never made a specific chr in nf for sunspear skills - they have a version also for lightbringer skills but thats only 2 or 3 skills.

PvE skills are player-only skills. You can't put them on your hero's skill bar (Thanks god you can't). Those are overpowered skills which would really make things way easier, even in Hard mode. Imagine, being able to spam
''You Move Like A Dwarf'' which deals 44...80 damage (depending on your Norn rank).
Deals 44...80 damage and causes knock-down. Inflicts Crippled condition (8...15 seconds).
Or even worse, being able to spam seven times ''Ebon Vanguard Assassin Support'' would be way overpowered, causing the game to be very easy.

Nobody said it had to make sense.

Maybe the guy who programs such things was hungover that day. Oopsies!

You can't use skills that you've only unlocked (like by using balthazar faction or buying skills on other characters), but when you buy a skill at a hero skill trainer, that skill also becomes available to you, not just your heroes. In that way, it basically functions just like a regular skill trainer, except you use hero skill points instead of regular skill points and gold.
